Our team would like to extend their appreciation to the SAPC group for inviting Opportunities, Inc. to present on our State Use battery contract that begins April 1, 2016.

Serving the needs of our customers is what drives our performance. We asked those present to share their critical battery applications and below is a list of those applications:

  • Wireless microphones
  • Clocks
  • Wireless mouse
  • Radio Equipment
  • Projector Remotes
  • Audio Recording Equipment
  • Telephone headsets
  • Flashlights
  • Tracking Devices

All of these applications remind our team that we’re not just providing a battery to you, our customer, but that we play an important role in helping our state employees do their daily work, communicate effectively, and ensure public safety all in a timely manner. Please email our team to let us know if there are other ways we can serve your needs.

Alkaline batteries may also be safely disposed with normal solid waste. Due to concerns about mercury in the municipal solid waste stream, battery manufacturers eliminated all of the added mercury from alkaline batteries in the early 1990’s. Alkaline batteries are composed primarily of common metals (steel, zinc and manganese) and do not pose a health or environmental risk during normal use or disposal.  Most recycling methods involve separating steel, other metals and paper/plastic to be recovered and re-used.

Although Opportunities Incorporated does not currently offer a recycling program for batteries, options are increasing.
